Frankston City Council launched its Sports Development Strategy in November 2004 to boost sport participation and promote an active lifestyle throughout the municipality.
The strategy has proved a positive way forward for the Council and the community to work together to promote and foster sport development. Over the past two years, the Council has built strong partnerships with sporting clubs and associations in developing facilities for community groups, including juniors, women and the disabled.
The strategy was developed following a wide community consultation process, including public forums, club surveys and face-to-face meetings. The strategy is incorporated into Council's future capital works budgets.
