EMERGING ATHLETES LOGO 2008
Frankston City Council's Emerging Athletes Program is a source of funding for talented junior sportspeople residing within the municipality.

This program offers families of emerging athletes the opportunity to access funding of up to $1000 each year, as well as significant local media exposure in conjunction with The Independent Newspaper.

The program features 36 nominees each year from a wide variety of sports.

Three young sportspeople will be nominated each month.  At the conclusion of the program in June 2008, 12 of the 36 nominees will be selected as Emerging Athletes and each will receive funding of $1000, provided by Frankston City Council and a supporting local business.

To be eligible for nomination, junior sportspeople must:

  • Reside within Frankston City
  • Be under the age of 18 as at 1 July 2006
  • Compete at State, National or regional level in their chosen sport(s)

Funds are distributed to assist athletes with ongoing costs associated with competing in their chosen sports. Nominations are selected by the Emerging Athletes Assessment Committee.

Please note: Frankston City Council have opened the 2008-2009 Emerging Athletes Program and nominations will close at the end of July 2008.   If you would like to have an application form and guidelines for the program mailed out to you, please contact Tracee Davis on 9768 1503 or e-mail    Tracee.Davis@frankston.vic.gov.au
