Dredging takes place on a 3 to 4 weekly basis, all year round. As dredging is weather dependent, there are no fixed dates, although dredging will take place as close as possible before any major event or holiday. Each dredge will take 2 - 3 days, although adverse weather may cause delays. On the day of completion of dredging, there will be at least 1 metre of depth in the dredged channel at low tide.
Please note that, even with the new dredging program and bridge, the creek between the ramps and entrance is still shallow and only suitable for small craft. It is recommended that engines be trimmed up while approaching and within the creek. There is a five knot (approximately 8km/h) speed limit within the creek.
When the dredge is operating please give it a wide berth. There are submerged cables and pipes that may be damaged or cause damage to your boat. Please obey the dredge operator's instructions.
