Hoon Hotline

Frankston City Council introduced the Frankston Hoon Hotline in October 2005, demonstrating a strong commitment to road safetyand partnership with Victoria Police.

Residents of the municipality can now phone 1800 NO HOON (1800 66 4666) - 24  hours a day, seven days a week - to report anti-social driving behaviour. This is a free call 1800 number, although calls from mobile phones may incur charges. If immediate police attendance is required, dial 000.

Anti-social driving behaviour includes:

  • Tail-gating
  • Speeding
  • Revving engines
  • Skidding
  • Manoeuvres called fishtails and doughnuts
  • Defacing or damaging road surfaces
  • Leaking oil
  • Screeching brakes

If you witness hoon behaviour in the Frankston municipality call
1800 NO HOON (1800 66 4666)  to report it.

You will be asked for the date and time of the incident, location, frequency of the hoon behaviour, and details of the alleged driver and vehicle. Number Plates are not neccesary to report to the Hoon Hotline. You can remain anonymous, however leaving your details will assits Police in collecting evidence. Your details will not be made available to anyone except Police.

Council has introduced a local law to empower Police to confiscate unregistered minibikes. If you witness minibikes on reserves or roads, or know the residence of the owner of an unregistered minibike, report it to the Hoon Hotline.

The information you provide will be placed in a database and sent to Victoria Police. Information will be collated with other reports of hoon behaviour to identify drivers and "hot spots" Victoria Police can target in future operations.

Assistant Police Commissioner Noel Ashby officially launched the Frankston City Hoon Hotline in Wells Street Plaza, outside Bayside Entertainment Centre, on Tuesday, 8 November 2005.
