Safe Taxi Rank

Operation of the rank

Frankston's Safe Taxi Rank is on the corner Davey and Young streets. The taxi rank is operational from 1:00am to 5:30am on Saturday and Sunday, as well as public holidays and for special events. The rank is manned by crowd controllers during these times. The Safe Taxi Rank security is funded by local venues - The Pier Hotel/Flanagan's Irish Pub, Pint'n'Pickle, Daveys Hotel, Hapenny Bridge Irish Pub and Restaurant, Kittens, Strike Bowling Bar, Robin Hood and Frankston Cabs. Frankston City Council maintains the rank and manages its operation. The Safe Taxi Rank may be under video surveillance. In April 2007 the CCTV system was upgraded to a digital system with four cameras used to monitor the rank as part of a grant received from National Community Crime Prevention Program. In 2009 the Safe Taxi Rank camera footage will be relayed directly to the Frankston Police Station as part of the installation of additional CCTV cameras throughout the Central Activities District and foreshore carpark.

Patrons at the Rank

Do not use the Safe Taxi Rank outside of its operating hours. If you require a taxi please make a booking through a local taxi company to pick you up from your location or organise with a sober friend or parent to provide your transport home.
