Community Safety Meetings

Langwarrin and Carrum Downs Community Safety Meetings have been held at Langwarrin Park Primary School  and The Carrum Downs Lyrebird Centre since October 2006 to discuss concerns about anti-social behaviour within the community. The aim of the meetings is to identify the primary issues concerning residents, and develop appropriate strategies to address these issues.

Representatives from Victoria Police, Frankston City Council, and local schools attend the meetings.

Mayor Collin Hampton said the community meetings give residents an opportunity to help improve their local area. "Community safety is very important to all Councillors," he said. "The Social Behaviour meetings we have conducted right around the City have helped develop strategies that reduce instances of anti-social behaviour".

Several issues have been raised by residents, including continued improvement of Council infrastructure, issues surrounding hooning and graffiti, street lighting, parking issues around schools, and the location of a new Police Station.

Strategies are being investigated by Council to address these issues, and will help to make the community even safer for residents and visitors.

Council encourages all residents with concerns to attend the meeting and contribute to making Langwarrin and Carrum Downs an even safer place to live.

Police and Council also encourage residents to report any instances of anti-social behaviour, such as vandalism and graffiti, immediately to Police on 000. Residents can also phone the Hoon Hotline on 1800 NO HOON (1800 664 666) to report any hoon activity relating to cars, trail bikes and monkey bikes. Residents can also consider joining Neighbourhood Watch, by calling Sharon Coburn on 9784-5639.
