The New Ambassadors Car | Visitors to the Frankston are likely to notice a new presence on the streets. Four uniformed Council Officers are keeping the peace in an effort to deter anti-social behaviour and improve people's feelings of safety. The 0fficers -Frankston City Ambassadors - have been in action driving their highly visible 4WD on the beach and patrolling the City's streets on foot since the launch of the Ambassador program in December 2006. |
The program was an initiative of Council's Social Behaviour Strategy 2006. This strategy aims to address anti-social behaviour and improve perceptions of community safety. The Ambassadors work with local traders, local services, community and support groups and Frankston police. They provide a highly visible presence that encourages community engagement and deters anti-social elements. Linked with the Safer City Centre, and in conjunction with the Visitor Information Centre, the Ambassadors also assist and provide information to visitors, residents, and traders.
