The New Ambassadors Car

Visitors to the Frankston are likely to notice a new presence on the streets. Four uniformed Council Officers are keeping the peace in an effort to deter anti-social behaviour and improve people's feelings of safety. The 0fficers -Frankston City Ambassadors - have been in action driving their highly visible 4WD on the beach and patrolling the City's streets on foot since the launch of the Ambassador program in December 2006.

The program was an initiative of Council's Social Behaviour Strategy 2006. This strategy aims to address anti-social behaviour and improve perceptions of community safety. The Ambassadors work with local traders, local services, community and support groups and Frankston police. They provide a highly visible presence that encourages community engagement and deters anti-social elements. Linked with the Safer City Centre, and in conjunction with the Visitor Information Centre, the Ambassadors also assist and provide information to visitors, residents, and traders.
