The aim of Frankston City Council's Gambling Policy and Action Plan (Acrobat PDF file - 212KB) is to articulate Council's position on gambling. The policy statement defines Council's vision and strategy on gambling in the municipality.
Council's original Responsible Gambling Policy was largely superseded by the abolition of the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority (VCGA), consolidation of eight Acts of Parliament regulating gambling, Gambling Regulation Act (2003), as well as other legislative changes. Further, the State Planning and Environment Act (1987) is due for amendment giving authority to local government to decide on the location of poker machine venues and increases to poker machine numbers in existing venues.
A Gambling Policy Brochure (Acrobat PDF file - 209 KB) and a CD-ROM outlining Council's policy commitments, and a selection of actions from the Plan, is available now. You can pick up a copy of the brochure from the Civic Centre, Carrum Downs, Langwarrin and Seaford shops, and Frankston Library Service libraries.
