If you live in the Frankston municipality and own cats and/or dogs who are over the age of three months, they must be registered regardless of breed, state of health and whether the animal is kept indoors or outside. Failure to register your pet may incur a fine of $500.
First Time Registration
As of 1 September 2008, all newly registered dogs and cats must be permanently identified e.g. microchipped and desexed from the age of three months.

For first time registrations only, download and complete the following form: First Time Dog and Cat Registration (Acrobat PDF file - 116 KB).
The Registration Fee can then be paid using one of the following options:
- Payment may be made in person at one of Council's Customer Service Outlets
- Payment by mail to Frankston City Council, PO Box 490, Frankston 3199.
Renewal of Existing Registrations
The animal registration year is from 10 April through to 9 April.
Each March, residents with existing pet registrations are mailed renewal notices and registration tags. Renewal registrations can be paid online.

Wearing of Registration Tags
Registered animals are required to wear their registration tag at all times, the owner of any registered animal found outside the owner's premises without the registration tag is guilty of an offence and liable upon conviction to a penalty of up to $100.
