E-Waste: Mobile Phones

Did you know?

  • More than 800 million people around the world currently use mobile phones and that figure is growing daily!

  • In Australia alone, it is estimated that there were 9 million new mobile phones sold in the last 12 months.

  • Australians typically upgrade their phones every 18-24 months! This exerts enormous pressure on the mining of resources needed to manufacture new phones.

  • Mobile Phones and mobile batteries cannot be recycled in your council recycling bins. There are a number of mobile phone recycling programs that you can get involved in that will help to protect our environment and conserve our natural resources. Help address the e-waste epidemic by recycling your used mobile phones and accessories.

Aussie Recycling Program (ARP)

ARP's Mobile Phone Recycling program provides a solution to help clean up the environment while at the same time helping raise much needed funds for charities.

Do you have a spare mobile phone sitting around on a shelf or in a drawer? You can now recycle it in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, the ARP way.

Recycle your Mobile Phones
By recycling your spare mobile phone, you are helping:

  • Raise funds for a charity of your choice
  • Preserve the environment by keeping your unused mobile phone out of landfill and recycling it back to re-use
  • Bring affordable communication to developing countries to people who otherwise would not be able to afford it

For more information, please visit the Aussie Recycling Program website.
