Clean Up Australia Day
![]() |
It is time to slip on your gloves and join other volunteers on Sunday 4 March in the annual Clean Up Australia Day - Australia's largest community-based environmental event.
In 2011 an estimated 565,510 volunteers cleaned up 16,454 tonnes at 7,479 sites right across Australia. But we can do better! So be a good sport and join the team to Clean Up Australia on Sunday, 4 March 2012.
This year Clean Up is calling for the support of every Australian to do their bit. Every individual can make a difference to the health of our environment, so come down and be part of your community - and help keep our beautiful beaches clean at the same time!
Frankston City Council would like to invite you to join us at Keast Park, meeting at the picnic area behind the Riviera Hotel (30 Nepean Highway, Seaford) at 10:00am, running until noon, followed by a barbecue lunch for participants. Everyone is welcome!
Please park on Railway Parade, Coolibar Avenue, Riviera Street, Nepean Highway, Keast Park, or other surrounding streets. Alternatively, take bus 780, and get off at Armstrongs Rd / Railway Pde Seaford - it is a short walk up to the hotel from there.
To speed up registration on the day and for catering purposes, please register your attendance at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/Kananook+Creek. If you can't register online, please contact Council's Environment Department on 9784 1747 to register. All participants are advised to wear sun protection, sturdy footwear and gloves.
There are a number of other Clean Up events running throughout the municipality on the 4 March, and they are listed on www.cleanup.org.au
Individuals, community groups, businesses and schools can all get involved by going to www.cleanup.org.au, or phoning 1800 282 329. Business Clean Up Day is on Tuesday 28 February, with Schools Clean Up Day on Friday 2 March.
Remember just one piece of rubbish can make a difference. So do your bit for your favourite local area and save the date for the first Sunday in March!
