Pedestrian and Cycle-way Network Maintenance

The pedestrian footpath network length is 2,435km, and is divided into 34 neighbourhood zones on a 5 year cyclic program for hazard repair works. An annual budget of $700,000 is allocated to the maintenance of footpaths.

Each year six neighbourhood zones are completed across the suburbs of Seaford, Carrum Downs, Langwarrin and Frankston.

Inspectors create the maintenance plan based on tolerable defect levels, so that the most important hazards are completed first. Priority for pathways maintenance is given to main roads that link shopping centres, along bus routes and schools.

A long term program of renewal, replacement and installation of new mobility access crossings is improving the safety and comfort to our community.
