Due Dates For Rates Payments

Rates must be paid by 15 February each year if paying in full, except for any arrears, which must be paid immediately.

Paying By Instalments
If paying in four instalments, the instalment dates are:

  • 30 September (first instalment)
  • 30 November (second instalment)
  • 28 February (third instalment)
  • 31 May (fourth instalment)

in the relevant financial year.

Any first instalment payments received after 30 September will be credited to the account and the balance must be paid in full by 15 February.

Paying in Full
Rates must be paid by 15 February each year, if paying in full. (Except any arrears which are payable immediately). Interest at 12.0% accrues on outstanding arrears.

Overdue Rates
Council charges Interest at the rate of 12.0% per annum on overdue rate amounts -(the interest rate as designated under the Penalties Interest Rates Act).

On overdue full payments, interest is calculated from 1 July until the date rates are paid in full. Interest on overdue instalments is calculated from the date each instalment falls due, until paid in full.

Failure to pay rates may incur legal action for recovery.

Contact Council's Rates and Valuations Section on 9784 1858 to arrange an acceptable rate payment plan, such as making weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments.
