Playgrounds
|
Playgrounds play an important role in a child's physical and mental development as they encourage children to climb, jump, balance and play creatively. Additionally playgrounds provide opportunities for children to interact, thus enhancing their social skills.
This is why Frankston City Council is committed to the provision of quality play spaces in close proximity to neighborhoods, installing several new playgrounds each year.
Playgrounds within Frankston City are defined in 3 categories:
Regional
Located in areas of significance. Form part of a larger park that offers special natural or other qualities. This level of playground provides a range of activities for all ages and maximum infrastructure.
District
Caters for residents within a 2 kilometre radius, which usually means 1 per precinct. These are medium sized playgrounds that cater for all ages. The majority of users would reside within the neighbourhood area.
Local
Caters for residents within a 500 meter radius from their home, therefore the majority of visitors would be local residents living within walking distance of the playground.
