Beauty Park

In the past, Beauty Park was known for its association with Lord Baden-Powell and the Scouting Jamboree of 1934. For many years the park was home to the Frankston Croquet Club prior to its move to improved facilities in Nolan Street. Following their relocation, the Frankston Marching Girls used the park but they too have moved to Nolan Street.
Beauty Park has undergone a major transformation as part of a two-stage redevelopment. The works are part of the implementation of the Beauty Park Master Plan adopted by Frankston City Council in March 2000. The Master Plan received widespread community support. The completion of Stage One resulted in an increasing number of patrons using the park. Beauty Park is seen as a link between the Frankston Waterfront and Frankston's George Pentland Botanical Gardens.
Stage One had seen the construction of an ornamental lake that doubles as a flood mitigation basin. The lake has massed plantings of indigenous trees and shrubs as well as macrophyte plantings, which are tolerant of periods of wet & dry, at the water's edge and along the dry creekline. The creekline, with its large boulders and river pebbles, winds through grassed picnic areas and shade trees. There are two raised viewing platforms suspended over the water's edge, enhancing the experiences of visitors. From the deck a variety of seabirds and water fowl can be fed. A walking path circumnavigates the park. Massed plantings of indigenous species have commenced in the upper and middle sections of the park.

Stage Two completed June 2005
Stage Two introduced a number of exciting changes to Beauty Park which included:
- Playground with 5.8 metre high Corocord TM climbing net, combination unit with cubby house and slide and a toddler's climbing net.
- Sandstone-clad pavilion providing shelter from the elements.
- Barbecues, drinking fountain and bins.
- Sandstone-capped seating wall.
A Partnership
Frankston Sunrise Rotary Club joined Frankston City Council in the implementation of the Master Plan in 2000. Rotary Club members have been actively involved in improvements including:
- Large-scale plantings; and
- Erecting the picnic pavilion
The Sunrise Rotary Club is keen to maintain a long-term involvement in the development of the park.
Fitness Equipment
Council and the Rotary Club of Frankston have joined forces to install the new fitness stations project, which cost $51,000 and is the first of its kind in the municipality.
Beauty Park, already a magnet for runners and fitness enthusiasts in and around Frankston, has just added to its fitness credentials with the instalment of three outdoor fitness stations around the park's perimeter track.
The equipment encourages and allows people to extend and enhance their exercise regimes whilst taking advantage of the outdoors and the added benefit of a social setting.
The self guided exercise system has been designed by leading exercise physiologists and is suitable for people of all fitness levels over 12 years of age. The equipment includes warm up benches, rowing machine, cycle seat, and various stretch bars.
