Car Parking Charges

Changes to Council Car Parking Fees

Increased All Day Parking from Friday, 30 March 2012

Kananook Creek Car Park and Playne Street Car Park

Parking restrictions at the Kananook Creek Car Park (between Playne and Davey Streets) will change to unrestricted P Ticket from 8:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday.

Parking restrictions at the Playne Street Car Park (corner of Davey Street) will change to 3P Ticket from 8:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday, for the front portion and unrestricted P Ticket from 8:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday, at the rear portion.

These changes aim to provide a better balance of middle term three hour parking and long term all day parking to accommodate both visitors to the city centre and traders.

Car Parking Fee Changes

As part of Council's 2011/12 budget process, Council increased parking fees from $0.70 per hour / $3.50 all day to $0.80 per hour to $4.50 all day at the following car parks:

  • Frankston Arts Centre Car Park
  • Playne Street Car Park (3-hour limit)
  • Young Street East Car Park (next to Tasman Meats)
  • Young Street (opposite Arts Centre - 3 Hour limit)
  • Kananook Creek Car Park

Four of Council's car parks (Samuel Sherlock, Cranbourne Road, Mechanics Hall and Railway Parade) were below the threshold of $3.50. On 30 October 2011 fees will be increased at these locations to provide consistency across all Council car parks.
