Area Planning Introduction

Local Area Planning is an opportunity for residents, local businesses, community groups and service providers to have their say on local planning priorities and take part in shaping their area.

Local Area Plans are developed with the community and help to inform Frankston City Council of the unique features, challenges, needs and aspirations of local communities. Local Area Planning happens across the municipality and individual Plans are developed within the following areas:

A working group of interested community members is formed in each of the areas and works alongside Council to deliver the priorities identified in the Plan. Local Area Plans are also referred to by Council when developing its broader community plans.

In addition to shaping the local area, Local Area Planning helps to:

  • Provide opportunities for local residents to meet and work together to identify key issues within the community
  • Provide opportunities for local residents to work with Council to identify and explore key local issues and strategies to address them
  • Create a platform for Council and the local community to communicate and discuss local concerns
  • Celebrate the differences and uniqueness of each area, building harmony and pride.

If you would like to take part in making these actions happen or would like more information about Local Area Planning, please contact us.
