Introduction
The Frankston Library Service is pleased to provide a membership Book Club Program in 2006 for:
- Established book clubs
- Individuals wishing to join an established book club, and
- Interested individuals wishing to get together once a month to share their love of reading with others.
Our book club program offers a range of titles including fiction and non-fiction, which were selected in conjunction with book club members.
Existing book groups and new clubs can meet at the Frankston Library on Playne Street or at a destination of their choosing.
The Frankston Library Service Book Club Program offers the following operating guidelines:
Membership
Our book club program is open to all Frankston Library Service (FLS) members in good standing. Joining FLS is easy; simply provide one form of ID with your current Victorian residential address. For more information, please phone (03) 9784 1020.
Individual book club groups are to be made up of a minimum of six (6) and maximum of twelve (12) members. A group leader must be nominated and will be responsible for liaising with the Library's book club co-ordinator and collecting and returning all book kits by the due date. The group leader is also responsible for collecting annual membership fees and ensuring that all book club members have paid their annual subscription costs.
Membership entitlements
Members of our book club program are entitled to borrow up to ten (10) different titles per calendar year on a rotational, first-in-first serviced basis.
Where possible, individual book groups are encouraged to meet at the Frankston Library on Playne Street. Complimentary tea and coffee facilities will be available upon request (up to one day prior to the book club meeting).
Free library bags will be issued to each member of your book group upon registration and payment of book club membership fees.
Book Kits
Book Club kits comprise 12 titles together with background notes and discussion questions.
Book kits are issued under one group membership card, which will be issued to your nominated book group leader upon registration and payment of book club membership fees.
Book Titles
A range of titles will be offered including fiction and non-fiction. Consultation with groups will also take place for new suggested titles at the end of each calendar year.
For a complete list of titles, please click here.
Requests for titles selected from the complete list must be made six (6) weeks in advance. However, no guarantee is given that the selected titles will be available within this time period. Requests for new titles will be accepted in December of each year.

- $75.00 per adult
- $50.00 per concession (Applies to Australian aged pension, Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance, Widow Allowance, Disability Support Pension, Wife Pension, Carers Pension, Newstart Mature Age, Mature Age Allowance and Veterans' Affairs card holders).

You can check the availability of the titles using the online catalogue search facility.
Late, Damaged or Lost Books
Lost or damaged books
In the event of lost of damaged books, please notify your group leader as soon as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made. Your group leader will let you know the cost of replacing or repairing the item. For lost books, please do not buy a replacement copy, as these will not be accepted by the library in lieu of payment.
Please note that late, lost or damaged books may incur penalties for your book group. Penalties may include loss of membership privileges.
Expression of Interest
Individuals wishing to form or join an existing book club can register their interest with the Library Book Club Co-ordinator, either in person, by phone or by sending an email to: libraryenquiries@frankston.vic.gov.au. Where possible, individuals registering an expression of interest will be put in touch with existing book clubs or a new book club may be formed.
New Book Clubs
For all new book clubs formed, a library facilitator will be made available for the first three book club meetings after which time the book club is encouraged to be self-administering.
