Central enrolments for 2013 four-year-old kindergarten placements are now due.

Enrolling on time increases your chances of being offered one of your preferred places.  Enrolments received after 13 July 2012 will be considered "LATE" and will not be included in the early round of offers.

Residents and ratepayers of the Frankston municipality have priority over non-residents.  Non residents are encouraged to contact their own local Council.

Letters of Offers for 4 year old kindergarten places will start going out in the post in August 2012 and will be ongoing.

To attend a four year old kindergarten, your child MUST turn 4 years of age on or before
30 April in the year that you wish your child to attend.

To attend 3 year old kindergarten, please contact your local kindergarten for enrolment details.

Enrolments at the kindergarten are decided on the basis of age.  As people move into and out of the municipality the number of children enrolled at a kindergarten can change frequently.  To find out current kindergarten vacancies you may contact the kindergarten directly or contact the Children's Services Support Officer.

Cost

Each kindergarten is independently managed by it's own Committee of Management who set their fees and levies.  For detailed fee information you will need to contact the kindergarten  of choice directly.  Also, you may be eligible for the Kindergarten Fee Subsidy to pay for your child's Kindergarten fees.

Offers

The offer process commences in August the year before your child is due to attend kindergarten.

Due to the large demand for kindergartens, the offer process is lengthy and ongoing. Usually it is finalised by December, but for some children it can take right up to the beginning of the academic year of your child's attendance.

Whilst the offer process is in progress it is extremely difficult to pinpoint a place on a waiting list. The list changes on a daily basis when people change preferences and move into and out of the area and parents personal circumstances change. Priority is given to older children once all the "on time" applications have been offered positions.

Offers are made in 3 stages:

  1. "On time" applications are offered positions in date of birth order (oldest first).
  2. "Late" applications are processed for offers after all "on time" applications have received an offer of a position. No "late" applications will be offered a placement until all "on time" applications have been offered a placement. The offers are made in date of birth order, oldest children first.
  3. After all "Late" applications have been made an offer, the remaining vacancies will be offered to "non resident" children (oldest first).

If you have accepted the offer of a position at your second or third preference kindergarten you cannot stay on a waiting list for your first preference, you must either "Accept" the offer made to you at your second or third preference or "Refuse the offer" and stay on the waiting list for your first preference.
