Frankston City Council Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and gain experience in various fields. It is a rewarding and fulfilling way to make a difference to people's lives, develop your skills and give back to your community. Frankston City Council has a variety of opportunities in which you can volunteer. These range from Meals on Wheels, Frankston Library Service and Council events.

Aged Services

Aged Services welcomes volunteers to assist in the following areas:

  • Frankston Ageing Positively Reference Group - Occasionally, Aged Services will solicit volunteers to participate in the reference group meetings.
  • Meals on Wheels (MOW) Kitchen - Food production volunteers to assist in meals preparation at its Frankston premises and at seniors venues and drivers and jockeys to deliver Meals on Wheels on to clients
  • Frankston Seniors' Festival - Make suggestions as to suitable activities and events and assist Aged Services' staff with organising and running individual activities and events.
  • Social Support Program - Transport clients in community buses and other vehicles to activities and on outings and assist staff at client activities and on outings

External Volunteering

Ironman
Asia-Pacific Championship

The Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship is coming to Frankston on Sunday, 25 March 2012. To help make this event a success when it comes to Frankston, 250 helpers are needed to hand out drinks to athletes, assist with bikes in the transition area or be part of the cheer squad. Country Fire Authority

There are many different types of volunteer roles at CFA, by making a contribution to your community you will make new friends, learn new skills and be part of Victoria's largest volunteer team.

 

Frankston Community and Support Centre

Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction by providing a valuable service to
their community. Job roles at the Centre including Receptionists, Interviewers, Statistics, IT, Admin and Information workers.

 

Mens Shed

Mens Shed aim is to address the issues of men's health (physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being) in the community, to engage men of all ages, differently-abled, youth, veterans and other groups of men of the communities in regional, rural, remote and urban areas; to support the social interaction of men in transitional periods (e.g. Redundancy, Bereavement, Retirement, Ill Health, Relocation, Divorce, Respite Care) in a non-exclusive, non-judgemental way; to share, disseminate and preserve the skills, abilities and interests that are relevant to the community.

 

State Emergency Service (SES)

VICSES volunteers come from different professions, backgrounds and all walks of life. As well as saving the lives and property of many Victorians, VICSES volunteer members find there are many personal benefits to volunteering.

There is the opportunity to hold leadership positions, earn accreditations that can be used beyond VICSES, become a respected figure in the community and form strong friendships.

 

Volunteer Victoria

Volunteering Victoria supports volunteers, volunteer managers and co-ordinators and volunteer-involving not-for-profit and community organisations within Victoria. The information and interaction from our website is one of the ways we provide this support.

Volunteer Resource Centre

Volunteer Resource Centre - happy people
The Volunteer Resource Centre, located in the Frankston Library is a newly created hub for volunteering needs across the City.

The centre is an independent incorporated body; governed by a Board of Management employing a part time coordinator supported by volunteers managing the day to day operations of the centre.

The centre aims to provide a variety of services to individual volunteers, volunteer organisations, businesses and Corporate organisations and student placements including but not limited to the following;
  • A website encompassing a data matching service
  • Face to face, phone and website referral and matching
  • Resources and referral to education, training and funding opportunities
  • Generic templates and documentation to support community clubs and groups, such as policies, procedures, position descriptions and roles and responsibilities.

The Volunteer Resource Centre works collaboratively with the broader community to support and strengthen the capacity of volunteering in our City.
