Business Visits Program

Construction

Introduction

The Business Visitation Program is designed to identify ways that Council can assist businesses through resources, information and business coaching. All businesses within Frankston City are entitled to a free visit and can learn about the opportunities provided by Council that can assist with growing your business.

The program also gives Council a better understanding of the needs of the business community and will often produce results accordingly. In addition, the program allows businesses to have an association with Council so that common issues can be overcome. Examples of the results of the program include:

  • Provision of Business Coaching
  • Government Grants and Referrals
  • Networking Facilitation
  • Traffic Management Issues
  • Safety Crackdowns (Vandalism, Hooning, Garbage Dumping)
  • Parking Availability
  • Sustainable business practices that save your business money

Business Visits Reaps Rewards in Carrum Downs

Since August 2007, the Economic Development team at Frankston City Council has been conducting business visitations within the Carrum Downs industrial precinct in an effort to gain a better understanding about the needs of the industrial businesses in the community.

The program identified some common concerns and queries amongst a number of businesses. The issue that businesses expressed as being of the greatest concern is anti-social driving (hooning). As a result, the Economic Development team has liaised with Council's Community Safety team and Frankston Police in an attempt to prevent further damage to roads, property and improve public safety.

The Carrum Downs industrial precinct has now been placed on Frankston Police's tasking sheet, making it an area that will continue to receive extra Police presence. In addition, a variable messaging sign with the 'Hoon Hotline' phone number was placed in the precinct to increase awareness of the hotline and Council's and the Police's commitment to reduce anti-social driving.

The Business Visitation Program has contributed to an increase in calls registered on the 'Hoon Hotline', resulting in a number of vehicles involved in anti-social driving being seized by Frankston Police. This result would not have been achieved without the assistance and cooperation of the businesses in the precinct.
