Introduction
There are a vast range of local employment and educational opportunities available to our local community. Frankston City Council's Economic Development Team participate in a number of events throughout the year to improve the transition of individuals into further educational opportunities or employment.
Frankston City Council also seeks to increase the awareness of the great diversity of jobs and career opportunities that are available at Council. As one of the municipalities largest employers, Council seeks to provide information on the qualifications required (be it formal training or on the job training) and the career advancement opportunities available.
MPS Careers and Jobs Expo
Each year in August/September, Frankston City Council participates in the MPS Careers and Jobs Expo held in Mornington. This one day event (free to attend or exhibit at) is an opportunity for:
- Individuals to learn about local career and educational opportunities
- Exhibitors to showcase their business and/or educational facility. There are over 50 exhibitors available on the day.
- Job and career opportunities are available on the day

Building and Construction Industry Careers Night
Frankston City Council, in partnership with the Mornington Peninsula Shire, holds the Building and Construction Industry Careers Night in April/May of each year. If you have an interest in any aspect of the building and construction industry - be it builder, plumber, carpenter, project manager, draftsman, architect - this is an information session for you! At this evening event we provide you with the opportunity to hear from people in the industry, talk to exhibitors who specialize in various aspects of careers and training in construction, and you can even talk to employers who are seeking to take on apprentices.
Community Services and Health Forum
Find out more about the great variety of careers available in the community services and health industry. Hear first hand from nurses, speech pathologists, aged-carers etc about what personality types and qualifications are required to be employed in their industry. Find out what got some role model individuals into their careers and some of the hurdles they overcame to become a success story.
This one day event held at the Frankston Arts Centre in May of each year, targets school children from throughout the Frankston - Mornington Peninsula - Casey region. It is a partnership of Frankston City Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Chisholm Institute of TAFE.
