The 2007-2008 Frankston Alive! Business Calendar will again make you take a closer look at Frankston. The calendar is a resource incorporating key business dates and events occurring in the Frankston city centre and a list of useful contacts that has been wholly created by Chisholm Institute of TAFE photography and design students.
This is the second year the calendar has been developed in partnership with Chisholm Institute of TAFE. This year the photography and design were provided by students as part of a competition. Students were given a brief to take photographs around the city centre or come up with a layout for the calendar that would, together, present Frankston in a "different light" and encourage people to take a "second glance".
Councillor Glenn Aitken, with Chisholm Institute of TAFE's Maria Peters, Director - School of Social Sciences, announced the winners at a presentation on 26 July 2007.
He said the calendar, through its design and images had managed to capture some unique aspects of the city centre. "Photography reveals another world of imagery that lies below the everyday surface of what we usually see" Cr Aitken said. "Through the skills of a photographer we can actually begin to see things in other ways than we normally would have."
