Frankston City Council'sEconomic Development team is dedicated to serve the needs of local businesses and industry.
Our team has a range of projects and initiatives targeting small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), businesses located in the Frankston city centre, the manufacturing industry, other industry sectors, and the wider Frankston community.
Frankston City Council's Economic Development Strategy highlights seven key themes identified to deliver sustainable employment and wealth creation in the local community to make Frankston City the place in which to do business:
- Marketing and Communication - Position and market Frankston City as a major commercial centre, leading tourist destination and attractive location for business. Engage local businesses to ensure local issues are addressed and relevant information is shared within the community.
- Business Networking and Training - Build on the potential of local firms through the support of business networks and provision of targeted workshops, seminars and programs.
- Education and Employment - Develop and support partnerships between key stakeholders that build on the educational strengths of Frankston City to positively influence the education/employment transition.
- Business Retention and Support - Provide an environment that nurtures the sustainable growth of existing local businesses across a variety of sectors.
- Business Attraction - Promote Frankston City as an attractive location for appropriate enterprises.
- Activity Centre Growth - Stimulate the growth of commercial centres across the Frankston municipality through targeted programs and initiatives that build on existing strengths and characteristics.
- Infrastructure Advocacy - Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure that Frankston City and its region has the infrastructure needed to facilitate continuous sustainable economic development.
The Economic Development team works closely with new and existing businesses to improve their individual and collective performance by offering a comprehensive range of business development and advisory services.
We offer business networking opportunities and work in partnership with Monash University and the Frankston Business Chamber in presenting high profile business breakfast seminars.
The Economic Development team provides assistance and advice in a variety of ways, including:
- Regular newsletters and e-mail updates
- Business training workshops and seminars
- General business advice for start-up and established firms
- Referrals
- Statistical and general information
- Strategic planning assistance and advocacy.
Frankston City Council also supports local businesses through the Frankston Business Directory, a free listing of businesses in the municipality.
