Planning and Signage Permits
Frankston City Council administers the Frankston Planning Scheme and various regulations under the authority of the Victorian Government.
The planning scheme and regulations set out the permitted uses of land depending on the Planning Zone in which it is located. This may require businesses to obtain a planning permit in order to carry out their operations. The planning scheme also sets out requirements for the use of signage in regards to type, size and location.
Before establishing your business, purchasing or leasing premises it is recommended that you identify any planning requirements. Businesses should visit or contact the Planning and Building Department at Frankston City Council to understand their obligations.
Some building works on your premises may require a permit to ensure safety of occupants and the public. The Planning and Building Department can advise if a permit is required.
Priority Planning Process
Obtaining planning permission can be a long process depending on the particular application and statutory periods. In order to stimulate business and employment growth the Planning Department and Business and Investment Unit may expedite the process if a significant net economic benefit to the municipality can be identified.
