Bike Trials is a unique sport in which the aim is to ride a bicycle across a set of obstacles known as a "section" without putting a foot down. These sections can contain anything from rocks and logs to cars, trucks or pallets. Each time a foot is placed on the ground or an obstacle a point is gained (known as a "dab"). In competition the rider with the least dabs wins. Competitions have different categories, novice, sport (intermediate) and elite (expert). There are many other forms of competition, such as dual trials, where two riders race each other across an identical course. Dabs are converted into a time penalty; the winner is based on the quickest time. There are also novelty events, in which the biggest leap or most spectacular move wins.
