Animal Management
Animal Control within the municipality is primarily the responsibility of animal owners, but State Legislation relating to the keeping of animals gives powers to Animal Management Officers to enforce certain standards and requirements to be met by animal owners.

- The Keeping of Livestock (farm animals) in residential areas
- The Keeping and Housing of Pigeons
- Provision of Adequate Fencing
- Protection of Other Animals and Native Fauna and Flora

Dogs are only permitted leave their registered property if they are under effective control of a chain, cord or leash. The only areas within this municipality where dogs may be exercised 'off-lead' are specially designated Free Roam Areas.
Dogs Victoria
DOGS Victoria (Victorian Canine Association) is the peak body representing owners and breeders of purebred dogs in Victoria and has a history dating back to 1877.
More than 280 individual clubs representing a single breed, a group of breeds or all breeds are affiliated with DOGS Victoria.
DOGS Victoria is a member of the Australian National Kennel Council.
