Cr Kristopher Bolam was elected as a Councillor for the North West Ward in November 2008 and became the youngest elected representative in Frankston City's history. Cr Bolam is also the youngest Mayor in Frankston City's history having served as Mayor for 2010/2011. At the Statutory meeting on 28 November 2011, Cr Bolam was elected as the Deputy Mayor and has the distinction of being Frankston city's youngest Deputy Mayor.
He has been an active Councillor over the last two years, submitting 45% of Notice of Motions put forward by Councillors. He has advocated for various transparency reforms and community safety based initiatives for Council.
As well as chairing Ordinary Meetings, Cr Bolam has chaired the Municipal Community Safety Consultative Committee, Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee, Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Finance Sub Committee and the Frankston Central Activities District Committee.
In August 2008 the Cr Bolam was sworn in as a Justice of the Peace by the State Attorney-General and is among the youngest to be appointed to this office. Cr Bolam is also a former Chairperson of the South-East Metopolitan Group which comprises of seven muncipalities.
Cr Bolam is a strong supporter of improving the image of Frankston: "I recognise Frankston's potential and I'm keen to improve its image. I am a supporter of good governance measures and I believe ratepayers have the right to an open, accountable and ethical local government.
I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves to continue building a working consensus to tackle the many issues facing Frankston. Our challenges are significant but not insurmountable, and I will see to it that Frankston continues to move in the right direction."
Previously the Cr Bolam has worked in the recruitment, energy and marketing industries and most recently he was employed at the Department of Immigration and the Department of Defence as a recruitment consultant.
Cr Bolam has lived in Karingal for most of his life and attended Ballam Park Primary School and Karingal Park Secondary College. He attained an Advanced Diploma of Business (Human Resources) in 2007 and is currently in the final stages of completing a Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University.
