Kirsten Lewis...Frankston
I'm fourteen and Frankston has been my home since the day I was born at the old Peninsula Private Hospital. I've seen Frankston change; I can remember the old street that used to run through the shops which has now become the food court. The old park at the foreshore, the old cinemas and the old car park where the entertainment building is now.
Lots of life-changing things have happened in this town and to tell you the truth I can't remember them because I was so small, but all I know is that our community stuck together and pulled through those hard times.
When I was about three we moved to Frankston South, just near the hospital. I remember my old primary school near the beach, and that year our school had its 119th birthday, we had a huge celebration.
Around Christmas I always get excited because I know that Frankston's famous festival of lights is just around the corner, and every year after that tree was lit we'd go and hug the tree. I remember going to the opening of the Safer City Centre and meeting the premier Steve Bracks. The unveiling of the mosaics in young street on the station side and seeing the one I made at the crossing.
Frankston has changed over the years, new shops, and the old market being moved. But no matter how much it changes it'll always be the same to me;
it's Frankston, my home.
