An exciting urban regeneration program for Playne Street is about to commence as part of the Frankston Transit Cities Program. The development of an innovative streetscape design with integrated artwork is intended to re-invent this important urban thoroughfare as a safe and enjoyable experience for shoppers, visitors and the business community.
Playne Street is one of Frankston's main shopping streets and we intend to make it even better. The partnership between the Victorian State Government and Frankston City Council will see Frankston's city centre becoming a great place to meet friends, to shop and be entertained.
- The proposed concept design aims to:
- Create an attractive and stimulating public space
- Improve pedestrian, cyclist movement and safety
- Manage traffic flow and car parking
- Contribute to better environmental sustainability
- Attract more business and visitors to Playne Street
