Major Developments - Playgrounds

Foreshore playgroundFrankston Foreshore Playground

The playground design was based on the theme of sand-castles emerging from, and collapsing into the beach. The playground includes separate toddler, junior and senior level play equipment, as well as a significant new picnic facilities. There is a large sandplay area with sound play and agility play adjacent, a twisted series of junior sandcastles, a large senior collection of sandcastles and four sets of swings. The playground design also allows for ease of access for children and adults with disabilities. Recently, a specially designed swing called the Liberty Swing was installed for special needs children which accommodates wheelchairs. The Liberty Swing was funded in part by the Rotary Club of Frankston. The new playground has become a landmark for Frankston as part of the complete revitalisation of the Frankston Foreshore. The Victorian Department of Sport and Recreation and Frankston City Council jointly funding the playground.
