Draft Report
The Mornington Peninsula Access and Mobility Study (MPAMS) is an integrated Transport Strategy for the greater Peninsula region. It has been prepared by the consultants Booz Allen Hamilton (in association with Geoff Anson Consulting) on behalf of Frankston City and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils.
The purpose of the MPAMS is to examine the community's access and mobility issues and needs in the Mornington Peninsula region over the next 25 years and to develop a transport plan that maximises outcomes from the existing transport system and identifies options for improvements.
The key focus of the study is to examine how well people are able to move within the region to access necessary or desired services and activities, such as employment, education, health services, shopping centres and social and recreational activities
The Study considers all modes of private and public transport including cars, buses, taxis, fixed rail, cycling, water based transport, walking and community transport. New and developing initiatives in Travel Demand Management, such as car pooling and 'Travel Smart' have also been considered along with how well freight is able to be moved within the region.
The Draft report was released for public exhibition, review and comment up to and including February 2007. Council was interested in obtaining the views of local residents, community groups and business organisations on the issues raised by the draft report.
