International Awards for Liveable Communities

Frankston City was up against heated competition at the finals in Niagara Falls, Canada, from cities in Category C (population 75,001 to 200,000)*.
The international panel of world-renowned judges at the finals in Niagara Falls, Canada, listened to presentations from 48 finalists from 20 countries across the globe.
The record numbers of entries include those attending the finals for the first time, among them communities from Latvia, Austria, Lithuania and Puerto Rico. This years final also saw the first running of the LivCom Environmentally Sustainable Project award with a further 14 finalists from five countries.
Finalists are divided into five categories according to their population. The winners were Annapolis Royal, Canada (up to 20,000), Qian Dao Hu, PR China (up to 75,000), Rhein-Hunsruck-Kreis, Germany (up to 200,000*), Stadt Munster, Germany (up to 1 million) and Honolulu, US (over 1 million).
Frankston City was nominated in the category for cities with populations between 75,000 and 200,000 people. Councils submission focused on the revitalisation of the Frankston Waterfront as well as improvements to the commercial, landscape, historical and recreational assets of the municipality over the past decade. The entry also emphasised Councils new programs and future plans.
This event was a great opportunity to promote Frankston City's attractions and achievements. The awards came at a critical time when our City is redeveloping and re-branding itself to be an outstanding regional capital on the bay.
