Landmark Bridge at Kananook Creek
|
The four-metre wide, arched suspension bridge features cutting-edge feature lighting for night viewing, portholes with glass inserts forms a transparent view through the bridge floor extending across Kananook Creek, onto the foreshore promenade. The bridge links Frankston's foreshore boardwalk to the proposed Bay Trail and provides an exceptional location for viewing the Bay.
The new bridge replaces the former bridge which was deteriorating significantly. Helping to create an icon for the Waterfront to attract tourists and also create an identity to attract tourists along the shoreline for residents of the City to admire.
The raised bridge over Kananook Creek, measuring almost 20 metres in length is part of a total space of the walkway extending 40 metres. The bridge was built by Simpson Construction P/L who are also involved in other associated foreshore and promenade works.
