The Community Renewal project began in Frankston North in April 2007 and is currently funded to run until June 2012. Community Renewal brings together residents, businesses, government and local organisations to help transform communities into places of opportunity and activity

The project is guided by a Steering Committee, made up of local residents and community organisations, it was convened following an initial community consultation process designed to encourage resident participation in the project. The Steering Committee has adopted a Core Statement to guide their decision making:

"Frankston North deserves the best. The Frankston North Community Renewal Steering Committee is committed to implementing the Local Action Plan. We agree as a group to adopt a behaviour that is respectful of community members and partners, to expedite all projects to benefit the community, in a timely manner."

After Community Consultation in March 2010 the following priorities areas were identified:

  • Employment, Education and Training
  • Infrastructure and open spaces
  • Community Participation
  • Safety, Health and Wellbeing
  • Identity and Image of the Pine

Each of these prioritity areas has a working group to implement the actions identified on the Local Action Plan.
