Frankston 2025 - The Story

The journey towards developing a Community Vision for Frankston began back in September 2006 with a series of events to get feedback from a wide audience across the municipality. A one and a half day conference, community meetings and workshops and surveys both face-to-face and on-line were undertaken to invite people to share their ideal vision for Frankston's future.

A draft Community Vision was published in May 2007 and feedback on the draft was sought through a broad and varied consultation process, which saw over 1500 people contribute to the final Frankston 2025 Community Vision. This was then endorsed by Council on 1 October 2007 as an expression of the Frankston community's shared vision for our future.

Frankston City Council would like to thank everyone who participated in the development of the Community Vision. The result is a living document that will grow with the community and provide a vibrant, passionate sense of belonging to the people in all parts of the City.

Why do we need a long-term shared vision?

As a community we have seen many changes, some positive and easily accepted, as well as others that have challenged us. It is important that we now come together with renewed optimism to build a positive future for Frankston City.

The Community Vision:

  • Describes what is important to our community; our aspirations for the future
  • Is a vision for the whole City - one that aims to involve and benefit everyone
  • Will help us to develop collective long-term priorities and strategies that we can work towards to meet our community's needs, both now and in the future.

Long-term priorities will help to make our community more sustainable; one that is healthy, resilient and long-lasting.
