Role of the Advisory committee:

The role of the Frankston 2025 Advisory Committee is to advise Council on how to maximise participation in the Frankston 2025 Community Visioning initiative, and encourage action by all parts of the community to turn the vision into reality, on behalf of the community.

  • Promote the community vision and the recognition of projects and community endeavours that contribute to the achievement of the vision to the Frankston City community.
  • Encourage community participation and support in delivery of the community vision by assisting the Council.
  • Assist the Council in monitoring and reporting on progress towards achievement of the community vision, with a particular focus on State of the City reporting.
  • Endeavour to faithfully represent the interests and preferences of the Frankston City community rather than the individual stakeholder organisations.

Who can be a committee member: 

The Frankston 2025 Advisory Committee comprises a range of community members, from students to small business owners to a former Mayor.

All Community Representatives are selected on their capacity to represent a broad spectrum of issues and consult with a range of people across the City.

If you are a local resident with a passion for improving Frankston as it moves towards its future, as well as the ability to act as a bridge between the many different groups in our community, then you too may be an ideal representative of the Frankston 2025 Advisory Committee.

How to become a committee member:

Members of The Frankston 2025 Advisory Committee:

Cr Alistair Wardle
Cr Alistair Wardle
Council Representative

Cr Alistair Wardle was elected to Frankston City Council as Councillor for the newly created South-West Ward in November 2005 and was elected as Mayor in December 2007.  In November 2008, Cr Wardle was re-elected for another four year term and elected as Deputy Mayor for 2009.

Cr Wardle has always lived in Frankston and has always been involved in a number of areas within the community.

Cr Wardle is keen to see the Council lead the way in introducsing sustainable living solutions throughout the municipality and increasing community input into the decision making process and, as such, has been heavily involved with the Frankston 2025 Community Vision since its inception in 2006.

Community Representative

 

Andrew has always lived in or around Frankston, he loves the city and its culture.

He has volunteered for 12 years in the Frankston Unit of the State Emergency Service, concluding with the role of Training Officer.

Currently Andrew is an Architectural Designer, specialising in planning who's motivation for being on the committee lies with improving processes, attracting investors and business to Frankston and the local area. He would love Frankston to be a vibrant community that values living close to the beach and utilises its unique location to the fullest. Frankston, through its redevelopment over the next few generations will be defined by the decisions made today. Community safety, perception, living standards and diversity, along with associated environmental issues are current agendas.

Community Representative

Jo lives in Lakewood Estate and has lived locally for over 30 years.

Jo is currently undertaking a Master of Public Policy and Management and is also on the Committee of management for the Frankston Community Support and Information Centre.

She aspires to have each member of the Frankston community reach their full potential with Frankston recognised for being a great place to live, work and visit.

Chris Sayers
Community Representative

Chris has lived in Frankston for more than 20 years and during this time been involved in a number of community based, business and church committees.

President of Langwarrin's Chamber of Commerce for three years running fostering a strong relationship between local businesses and Elisabeth Murdoch College.

He enjoys his volunteer position of cooking at the Combined Churches Community Breakfast in which he has been involved for three years. Chris feels that Frankston has tremendous potential, being ideally located on the bay, to become one of Victoria's premium cities and is pleased to be part of the team to help implement the 2025 Community Vision.

Benjy Lee
Community Representative

Benjy lives in Frankston South and is passionate about sustainability, community, people and photography.

He is a Manager of Carbon and Sustainability for the energy company Jemena and enjoys tennis at the Overport Park Tennis Club.

His aspiration for the Frankston community is to "surpass our own expectations of what is possible in regards to the connectedness, vibrancy and sustainability of our community life, the local environment and infrastructure."

Leanne Warner
Community Representative

Leanne has lived in Langwarrin for 17 years, works in community development and is an active member of a local housing co-operative. 

She is also the fundraising co-ordinator for AWARE Wildlife Rescue in the local area and a moderator of the Frankston Freecycle Network which helps keep usable items out of landfill.

Leanne is passionate about getting people more involved in the local community and says Frankston has a "beautiful and friendly atmosphere".

Community Representative (Chair)

Noel, a former Mayor of Frankston City, has many years experience on local committees and advisory boards and was a member of the Frankston Arts Centre Board.

Noel has impressive knowledge of the history of the Frankston City and is currently a volunteer at the Visitor Information Centre, member of the Foreshore Advisory Committee and also the Hall of Fame Committee.

Ronald Lyon
Community Representative

Ronald, a keen volunteer who lives in Seaford, was a School Teacher for 20 years.

He is currently involved in the Frankston Coast Guard, Foreshore Advisory Committee and the working parties of the Seaford Village and Keast Park redevelopments. Ronald's interest is at present in environmental education.

Representative

Susan has an academic background (Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy as well as Honours in Cultural Studies).

Susan has demonstrated her commitment to volunteerism through various committees in the past such as the Australia Day Committee and WHISE (Women's Health in the South East) Committee.

She is a long-standing resident of Frankston residing in Frankston North who represents people from a non-English speaking background also on the Frankston North Community Renewal Project's Steering Committee and the Frankston Business Chamber. She is a Naturopath with an interest in health and environmental issues.

Trudy Poole
Community Representative

Trudy is a long-standing resident of the Frankston City who lives in Skye.

Her involvement in Girl Guides, combined with a strong interest in continuing to support young people, demonstrates her commitment to the local community.

Trudy is presently involved in Frankston Rotary and Carrum Downs Community Support Group, has started Playgroup in Carrum Downs and is a small business operator in Frankston.

F2025 Committee - Therese Sakamoto
Therese Sakamoto
Community Representative

Therese lives in Frankston South, was raised and educated locally and represented Frankston as an exchange student in our sister city, Susono, Japan.

She lived in Japan for 18 years and is now a Japanese Teacher at Derinya Primary School, Executive Committee Member of Frankston Susono Friendship Association, an active member of Frankston Life Saving Club and a committee member of Frankston Tennis Club.

Therese is passionate about promoting friendly neighbourhoods, multiculturalism and pride in our city.
