Renewing Frankston's City Centre

Frankston City Council (FCC) and the State Government have commenced planning for a renewed Frankston
Activities Area (FAA). Over the next 12 months, they will be leading the review and update of the current plan, the TAFE to Bay Structure Plan (2005). The first step is to develop a vision for Frankston's city centre in partnership with the local community, business and government. Stakeholder and Community Engagement was undertaken between 25 July and 2 September 2011 to inform the development of a shared vision for the Frankston Activities Area.

A broad range of people were consulted as part of the engagement process including government, business,
community service providers, community groups and community members through a series of workshops, focus
groups, vox pops, an online forum, surveys, interviews and written submissions.

Visit the Department of Planning and Community Development website for more information.  Click on the following link Community and Stakeholder Engagement and read the findings of the preliminary consultation.

Frankston is one of six designated Central Activities Areas (CAAs) in Victoria. CAAs are a State Government priority and are to provide:

  • Significant jobs and commercial services
  • A strong and diverse retail sector
  • Specialised goods and services
  • Significant opportunities for housing
  • High levels of accessibility through the transport network
  • Vibrant centres of community activity and public services.

We are working towards these goals so Frankston City will become a vibrant hub for people to live, work and visit.
